Get Rid Of Those Extra Pounds While Having Fun

January 6th, 2010 Posted in Exercise, Newsletter, Weight Loss | No Comments »

europlateCan you believe we are finishing out the first decade in this new millennium? With the start of a New Year comes all the usual traditions: the parading of a baby, eating of luck-bringing foods, and the making of New Year’s resolutions. All of these traditions symbolize new beginnings and the desire for a better life.

The number one resolution made in America is the commitment to weight loss. If losing those extra pounds is on your resolution list you are probably aware it will be a long term obligation. For the best success you need to make a lifestyle change. The difficultly of changing your routine is that usually your time is already filled with both required and habitual activities. Transforming behavior is not only difficult but often unpleasant. Now think of how much more successful you would be with your fitness program if you could make it both fun and have it require less time to accomplish the stronger, slimmer physique you desire.

How Does WBV Work?

The oscillating vibration motion of the VibraSlim plate stimulates the body’s muscle stretch reflex. By animating the muscle spindles a continual contraction and relaxation is created within the muscles. This is the same kind of workout the muscles receive when performing any kind of physical task.

Muscle cells are not able to maintain a constant contraction. In order to be effective muscles need to work, then rest. To emulate a nonstop force the brain activates several groups of muscle cells in a repeat pattern of rapid succession. WBV is an effective method of accomplishing this kind of muscle stimulation.

The VibraSlim is a Whole Body Vibration (WBV) machine. WBV was originally developed by the Soviets to maintain the muscle and bone integrity of their cosmonauts in a gravity-free environment. Russian astronauts were able to stay in space for 420 days using WBV, whereas NASA astronauts were compelled to come back after only 120 days. NASA has now incorporated WBV into their space program.

The VibraSlim is both fun and easy to use. You just need to stand on the vibrating plate for as little as ten minutes a day to receive the same benefit as a 60 minute calisthenic program.

How Does WBV Help Weight Loss?

Long-term studies have shown that WBV helps in weight loss in the following ways:

  • Muscles Gain Mass – Muscles require more energy (calories) to maintain their integrity than other body tissues. This is helpful because if you are eating less while gaining muscle your body will use stored fat as a fuel source.
  • Helps Burn Fat – The VibraSlim aids in the production of serotonin and human growth hormone. Both help to raise the body’s metabolism. With a higher metabolism fat is more easily used as fuel.
  • Improves Blood Flow – With an improved circulatory system both the blood and lymphatic fluids will help to remove toxins and fat from the body.

Last year on February 12th The Tyra Banks Show demonstrated a WBV machine. The woman who participated was weighed both before and after a ten minute workout. Her weight had gone from 165.6 to 164.6. That is an impressive one pound loss.

proplateOverall, by regularly using the VibraSlim you will tone up the tissues of your body while increasing your energy level. And if you have any limitations in flexibility the VibraSlim is an excellent method of getting exercise without creating the wear and tear other physical activities often generate.

Other Effects Of WBV On The Body

Research has shown that WBV helps to build bone density. With stronger bones osteoporosis is less likely to become a problem for you. Also because the workout you receive from the VibraSlim is low-impact your recovery time will decrease. As you continue to use the VibraSlim your flexibility and coordination will improve which will help relieve any joint troubles you may have.

Two Models To Choose From

Promolife carries two models of VibraSlims. The Pro is the more powerful machine with a two horsepower motor. It has a weight capacity of 400 pounds. The Europlate has a 1.5 horsepower motor and is capable of supporting 275 pounds.

So if you have a New Year’s goal of losing weight while shaping up, the VibraSlim is a fun way to stay motivated and will become an effective way for you to gain better health.

Receive Healing Energy Through The Clothes You Wear

December 11th, 2009 Posted in Far Infrared Therapy, Newsletter | No Comments »

Have you ever wished you could have constant relief from muscle and joint pains? Whether caused by injury or an ailment like arthritis, far infrared clothing may provide the continuous reduction of suffering you seek. As long as you wear the article of clothing, the area surrounded by the cloth will benefit from the far infrared energy produced. Walking, bending or even standing will become low-pain or no-pain activities.

How can clothing possibly affect the body?

There are both general ways far infrared affects the body and specific ways each article of clothing affects the area it covers.

In general far infrared will dilate the circulatory system’s capillaries. This results in an increase of blood flow which not only promotes healing but also helps to purge toxins from cells. The following list explains the many properties far infrared clothing will have on the body:

  • Increases blood flow which brings additional nutrients to needed areas,
  • Eases muscle and joint pain,
  • Diminishes local inflammation and swelling,
  • Works both gradually and constantly,
  • Is easily absorbed and can not be overused,
  • Penetrates deep into body tissues, up to three inches,
  • Helps to warm the body,
  • Assists with various processes like pain control, sleep and weight loss,
  • Increases oxygen in the blood cells,
  • Enhances the entire body’s healing process instead of just masking symptoms.

Each article of clothing will affect the body in more precise ways. Below is a list of all of Promolife’s wearable far infrared clothing and the ways they affect the body.

How can all this energy be contained in clothing?

It’s a modern mystery but the short of it is that bio-ceramic particles are incorporated into threads as they are being created. They are not glued to the outer edges of the thread but actually become part of the thread. These threads are then woven into far infrared clothing. When worn the body’s own thermal energy stimulates these bio-ceramic particles, which transform the body’s energy into far infrared rays. It is a bit like a candle that is surrounded by mirrors. Standing alone the candle gives off a minimal amount of light but with each additional mirror the light of the singular candle intensifies.

Because the threads of our clothing contain these bio-ceramic particles they can be washed hundreds of times without lessening the far infrared effect.

Each article of far infrared clothing is a mini energy machine which will help lessen your aches and pains while bringing the valuable healing your body needs. And because the clothing will last the life of the fabric you might even get away with calling it a perpetual energy machine.

Kick Start Your Weight Loss Program

November 4th, 2009 Posted in Exercise, Newsletter, Weight Loss | No Comments »

weightlossHave you been struggling for years to lose those love handles around your middle? Millions of us are in the same situation and it’s no loving matter. Losing excess weight is the most difficult problem many will every tackle. The keys to weight loss are extremely simple, at least intellectually. First you’ve got to move more, which helps to increase your metabolism, and second eat less. Everything concerning weight loss pivots around these two elements.

Movement as a Key to Weight Loss

Elevating your metabolic rate is a requirement in losing body fat. Exercise and weight training is one method to boost your body’s energy level. Another method is to regularly take 30 minute far infrared saunas.

Several things happen to the body during a far infrared sauna session. As your body’s temperature rises your heart rate will increase. Blood will rush through your veins picking up and eliminating toxins that the far infrared energy has literally vibrated from your cells.

Once your body’s tissues rise above 100°F, fat cells start to dissolve, making them easy for the blood to remove. The end results of a far infrared sauna session are:

  • An elevated metabolic rate which can last up to 36 hours,
  • Detoxification of the body’s poisons and fat bringing greater energy,
  • Burns between 200 and 600 calories, which is more than many physical exercises.

PFIRSAlthough all our far infrared saunas will create these effects, two of Promolife’s saunas, because of their convenience of portability and affordability, are best suited for many people while losing weight. The Personal Far Infrared Sauna is a foldable sauna which can be set up in seconds in any 4′ x 4′ space. You will find time spent in this sauna will fly by when viewing a favorite TV program or listening to music. There are even convenient arm holes through which you can hold something you want to read.

The Far Infrared Sauna Bag will afford you the comfort of being able to lie down while taking a sauna. One of our customers called several months ago excited about the fact that by using the Far Infrared Sauna Bag she had started to lose weight again. After having her children she had lost 25 of the 35 pounds she had gained. Though she tried for a long time, the last ten pounds would not budge. Within two weeks of purchasing the Far Infrared Sauna Bag she started to lose weight again. You can read her entire testimonial at the bottom of the following web page.

FIRbag

Whether you choose the Personal Far Infrared Sauna or the bag version of the same high quality far infrared technology, you will find that over time your natural energy will increase as your body slims down. Both of these saunas are recommended for home use. You can visit our website to see our complete line of far infrared saunas.

So Why is a Far Infrared Sauna Better Than a Traditional Sauna?

With the traditional high heat sauna the body’s temperature only rises once the hot air around it makes contact with the skin. This is both a slower process of detoxification and demands higher sauna temperatures, which will use a lot more energy than the Far Infrared Sauna.

With a far infrared sauna the energy heats the body first and then the body radiates heat into the space around it. The heat generated by a traditional sauna will never penetrate the body’s tissues as deeply as the far infrared energy, so fewer toxins will be released through the high heat method. In an analysis of the sweat produced by both types of saunas it was shown there was nearly a three times greater detoxification potential with the far infrared sauna. It should be noted that sweat is mostly water so you should rehydrate after each sauna.

If you desire to lose a lot of weight a far infrared sauna is a tool which can help in the process but as stated at the beginning you will also need to eat less.

How Do I Eat Less Without Having the Sensation of Starving?

There are methods to answering this question. Each person is different so not all methods will work for all people. Feel free to fine tune these methods so they can better work for you.

First and foremost you will need to eat as many healthy foods as possible. If you don’t your body will not get the nutrition it needs which will cause you to crave more to eat. This doesn’t mean you have to stop eating all sweets or other less nutritious foods. In fact, if you have a craving for something you know you shouldn’t eat much of your mind may not let you rest until a portion of that food passes over your palate. Just keep in mind your tongue needs no more than three bites of a substance to get the full gratification of the taste. Along with boosting the quality of food you eat you may need to take vitamins to remain healthy.

Another method of staving off the sensation of starvation is to change the quantity of food you eat from day to day. One day you may eat 800 calories, the next 1700, a third 1200 calories. This method will help to trick your body into thinking it is getting the amount of food it needs.

To rest more peacefully at night without hunger pains, try eating three bites of something just before you sleep. While it is best to not eat much in the evening, if you are like most people sleep will be evasive if you are hungry, so go ahead and do what will comfort your stomach.

Weight loss is not about punishment, it’s about gaining better health. Using all the tools at your disposal is the best method to accomplishing your goal. The far infrared sauna is one of the best tools you can get when embarking on the journey of weight loss.

Miracle Vitamin You’ll Want Plenty Of This Winter

October 2nd, 2009 Posted in Health Improvement, Immune System, Newsletter | 2 Comments »

sunlampnewsletterDo you find you frequently have more colds and flus in the winter that cause you to miss work? You just can’t find the energy to do the things you love to do. Your kids are missing more school. You feel a looming depression you just can’t seem to shake off. How would you like to reduce or maybe even eliminate these conditions while also fortifying yourself against other diseases such as osteoporosis, cancer and seasonal affective disorder (SAD)?

Amazingly, you can accomplish this in just five minutes, three times a week. Before I tell you how, here is some important information to keep in mind.

As winter descends upon us and the days get shorter we spend less time outdoors, decreasing our exposure to the sun’s very beneficial UV rays. Season, latitude, time of day, cloud cover, smog, clothes and sunscreens all interfere with UV ray exposure resulting in a deficiency of the vitamin D (the “sunshine vitamin”) which some researchers are now calling the “miracle vitamin.” In fact researchers have estimated that nearly one billion people worldwide have vitamin D deficiency.

But all I have to do is drink a glass of milk per day right? Wrong. Once foods were fortified with vitamin D in order to eliminate rickets, many healthcare professionals thought the major health problem resulting from vitamin D deficiency had been solved. Unfortunately rickets was only the tip of the iceberg and a final result of a long term deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency continues to remain common in children and adults, putting them at risk of some of today’s most common and debilitating diseases including, but not limited to:

Vitamin D Deficiency Diseases:

Cold and Flu Diabetes Type 1 and 2 Autism
Cancer Osteoporosis Asthma
Depression Obesity Hypertension
Multiple Sclerosis Inflammatory Bowel Disease Insomnia
Macular Degeneration Seizures Alzheimer’s Disease
Schizophrenia Migraines Heart Disease
Infertility Cavities

So how do I know I’m getting enough vitamin D?

Exposure to sunlight is the most important source of vitamin D. Sunlight produces UVA and UVB rays. It is the UVB rays that are responsible for vitamin D production in your body. So it is now recommended to allow the sun to shine on your skin for at least 20 to 30 minutes before putting on any sunscreens. It is impossible to get too much vitamin D from the sun.

There are food sources for vitamin D such as salmon, cod liver oil and fortified foods but researchers are now showing this is not enough. Supplementation is recommended, especially in the winter months. Most supplements may or may not be strong enough and some individuals are sensitive to vitamin D supplements.

What can you do about that?

The next best source is Promolife’s Vitamin D Lamp which is approved by the FDA. It is an ultraviolet lamp that produces UVB rays that help the body generate vitamin D without tanning. If used consistently for only five minutes three times a week (yes, only five minutes) it will raise and maintain your vitamin D to adequate levels without the risk of overdosing or burning your skin. It’s simple and very easy to use. You can even rotate to expose different areas of the body on different days.

Here are just a few benefits of ultraviolet light:

  • Improves bone health
  • Enhances mental health (SAD, PMS, depression, general mood)
  • Reduces risk of certain cancers
  • Improves heart health
  • Alleviates skin disorders
  • Decreases risk of autoimmune disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis, Type 1 Diabetes, Mellitus and Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Alleviates conditions related to obesity that prevent participation in an exercise program
  • Reduces risk of infection from colds and flus

Both the floor and tabletop lamps provide all the vitamin D you will need when used three times a week for five minutes each session. With the maximum amount of vitamin D in your body it will be able to more readily absorb calcium which will strengthen your bones and teeth while helping to keep your heart’s rhythm steady. So create the miracle in your life with Promolife’s Vitamin D Lamp.

Use coupon code “DUV10″ for $10 off either the floor or table model. Offer ends November 30th, 2009.

Alzheimer’s Disease: Adversity Makes Superheroes

August 27th, 2009 Posted in Nervous System, Newsletter | 1 Comment »

coachbroylesplaybook_smallPart 2 of a series | Read Part One

“Once you’ve lived as a caregiver you want to help everyone else that is experiencing what you’ve just gone through.” These are the words of Betsy Arnold, a woman on a mission. Around five years ago she lost her mother to Alzheimer’s disease. As her mother progressed through the three stages of Alzheimer’s disease, Arnold and her father, Coach Frank Broyles of the University of Arkansas, became Barbara Broyles’ main caretakers.

Currently 70% of the people who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease are being kept at home. For many the main consideration for this decision is financial. A close second is the fact that people with Alzheimer’s disease do better in surroundings in which they are familiar.

Caring for her mother was both a struggle and huge learning experience for Arnold. Often she wished there was a manual on how to give the care an Alzheimer’s patient needed. It was only after her mother’s death that the time could be found to write the desperately needed book, Coach Broyles’ Playbook for Alzheimer’s Caregivers. This book, written by Betsy and her father, is free to download in either PDF (text) or MP3 (audio) format, or a paper copy can be mailed to you for the price of postage from www.alzheimersplaybook.com.

Early Stage: Rapid Changes

In the beginning everyone goes through a period of denial. People with the disease may try to hide the fact they can’t remember current events, or stop doing things they love because they fear their friends will discover their secret. Other people just can’t face the idea of such a devastating disease affecting their loved one. However, the sooner this phase is dealt with and left behind the better for all. For one thing time is health with Alzheimer’s disease. There are medicines that can temporarily restore mental abilities but the longer a person waits to try them the less effective they will be.

During the Early Stage people are still very functional. Often they are able to live alone. This stage generally lasts between two to four years. The individual may need help attending to mail. Filling out checks, mailing letters and filing statements may all become difficult tasks to perform. Making lists for the person can be a great help during this stage.

For the caregiver, learning how to establish a calming method of communication is essential. It will be important to make sure people with Alzheimer’s disease eat, stay clean and are comfortable. They may require help shopping for food and preparing meals. Simple tasks like brushing their teeth may turn into combing their hair with toothpaste if guidance is not provided. It is important to learn how to break tasks down to single steps. To brush their teeth first ask them to get the toothbrush, then to put toothpaste on the brush, to wet it, to put the brush in the mouth, scrub the teeth, spit the toothpaste out, rinse the mouth and finally to put the toothbrush and paste back. Each step is only explained after the previous step has been completed.

What the Alzheimer’s patient needs most throughout their entire illness is to be kept in their world with the dignity due every person. It is true patients will regress to infancy in their minds but they are adults who have frequently lived interesting and full lives. The backward journey they are on will often scare them, make them angry and cause them to display irrational behavior but on some level they will always know who loves them, who respects them and who wants the best for them.

It is best to figure out the full time care patients will need in the future while they are most able to have input into the decision.

Middle Stage: Loss, Frustration and Some Joys

By the time patients reach the Middle Stage they are often youngsters in their mind. In fact, they will most often talk about people they knew around the age of eight or so. If in doubt ask them how old they are or who they play with. This will help determine where the person is mentally. It is important to remember that when a memory is lost it is gone forever. So if the person is asking for their child and the adult child replies, “Here I am,” confusion and anger may result because the Alzheimer’s patient at that point may only be able to remember the child as a baby.

The Middle Stage could last as long as ten years. Often the hardest thing for the caregiver to deal with is the change in actions. For example, patients will ask a question but because they have no ability to retain the answer they ask the question again and again. They repeat the question over and over because the answer is really important to them. Frequently they will only let something go when they have forgotten the question.

At times frustration can overtake caregivers. They may want to treat patients like children because they are acting like them. This will only serve to upset the patients if they feel they are being belittled. It’s important to speak positively and allow the person with Alzheimer’s disease to do what they want, as long as it doesn’t put them in danger.

During the Middle Stage the disease will intensify. Everything from bathing and sleeping to walking will become more difficult. Wandering off becomes an issue because once lost they can not find their way home and may not be able to help others get them safely home either.

At some point they will even begin to lose the ability to figure out images. They can see objects and people but won’t be able to understand what they are seeing.

It is important to remember that even though the person with Alzheimer’s disease isn’t creating new memories the caregiver is. Little joys can be gained by sharing music, hugs and stories.

Late Stage: Three and the Count Down

This stage, which can last up to three years, is marked by the person regressing to the age of about three. Everything gets lost: bowel and bladder control, eating, self knowledge, recognition of others, walking and talking all become casualties of the disease.

Taking care of a person with Alzheimer’s disease is a labor of love. Caretaking is a hard job physically because the Alzheimer’s patient needs a lot of support. It’s a hard job emotionally because the end is near, and as much as caregivers dislike seeing a loved one suffer, they also dread the idea of not having that person in their lives. At this point many turn to professionals to provide additional or total healthcare for a loved one, and they themselves concentrate on being there to comfort the person.

A Ray of Hope

In general Promolife does not like to cover subjects where there seems to be little hope. We prefer to focus on solutions to health issues. With Alzheimer’s disease maintaining health is contingent on keeping the whole of your body healthy.

A healthy heart will bring more blood to the brain resulting in a stronger brain. Healthy lungs put more oxygen into the body. A healthy liver removes toxins more efficiently and so on. Proper nutrition, exercise, sleep and mental activity prolongs the brain’s ability to function. And just because there is no cure today does not mean there will never be the ability to heal or contain the condition in the future. In light of this it is vital the patient stays as fit as possible for as long as possible.

Supporting the Caregiver

Even though this newsletter concentrates on giving care to people with Alzheimer’s disease many of the methods explained here can be applied to other diseases like ALS and cancer.

Throughout the entire caretaking experience it is vital that caregivers guard against burnout, anger and the feeling their lives are no longer their own. Each day time needs to be spent doing things that make them happy, that will rejuvenate their energy and lessen their burdens. After all caregiving is akin to the work of superheroes, where ordinary people turn their weakness into strength for the betterment of others.

Alzheimer’s Disease: The Crippling Of A Mind

August 5th, 2009 Posted in Men's Health, Nervous System, Newsletter, Women's Health | 3 Comments »

alzPart 1 of a series | Read Part Two

In our lives the one thing most people identify as containing the essence of who they are comes from the mind. It houses creativity, personality, memories and intelligence. Our thoughts are the only things we have total control over, if the brain is healthy that is. Alzheimer’s disease strips the individual of their identity by destroying the brain over a period of 8 to 20 years.

What Causes Alzheimer’s Disease?

Currently medical science is only able to view Alzheimer’s disease through opaque glass. Diagnoses are difficult as several forms of dementia exist. In fact an autopsy is required to be able to confirm the diagnosis. More is known about how Alzheimer’s disease affects the person than is known about what causes it or will prevent it.

In the mystery of Alzheimer’s disease there are a lot of “persons-of-interest” but few actual suspects. However there are two known criminals involved with Alzheimer’s disease. One is the beta amyloid protein and the other is tau protein.

The beta amyloid is the trash fragment of proteins that every cell produces when the cell degenerates. They are the equivalent of toxic waste. As a person ages it becomes more difficult for beta amyloid proteins to be eliminated. It is believed the accumulation of beta amyloid proteins within the brain, especially the hippocampus where short-term memory resides, helps to bring on Alzheimer’s disease. In the brain beta amyloid proteins collect near the neurons (nerve cells), creating a barrier which is difficult for neurons to pass communications through.

The second known bad guy with Alzheimer’s disease is the tau protein. Tau proteins are instrumental in stabilizing the cytoskeleton structure of the neuron’s microtubule pathways. When the tau proteins deteriorate the microtubules can collapse creating neurofibrillary tangles within the neuron. With the destruction of the microtubules, nutrients and other essential substances are blocked from reaching all areas of the cell. This can result in the actual death of the cell. Over time Alzheimer’s disease causes the brain to shrink.

It is believed a large number of other things may play a role in the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Among them are genetics, head injury, high blood pressure, vitamin B deficiencies, heavy metal poisoning, diabetes, heart disease, out-of-control free radicals and a low education level.

Can Alzheimer’s Disease be Cured?

No, not at this time. Alzheimer’s disease is considered a degenerative nerve disorder. Eventually Alzheimer’s disease will result in death.

Can Alzheimer’s Disease be Prevented?

No one really knows for sure but there are numerous ideas about how to help prevent the disease. In order to help the projected 14 million Americans who will suffer from the disease by the year 2050, we will have to push prevention.

It is currently thought Alzheimer’s disease may begin in the brain up to 20 years before any signs of dementia appear. By the time the ailment becomes apparent so much damage has occurred that stopping the disease becomes impossible.

In general many of the things that promote good health will also help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Good quality food which includes lots of fruits and vegetables is always essential in maintaining the body’s vitality. Without this other preventative measures will have less of an effect in preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Along with quality food, consuming pure water is a must for keeping toxins from burdening the body and flushing other toxins from tissues.

Antioxidants like vitamins C and E will help fortify the brain against free radical scavengers. B vitamins also play a major role in brain functions.

Maintaining a detoxification program is believed to aid in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease as well as most diseases. High levels of mercury are thought to be a contributing factor in Alzheimer’s disease. Having the amalgam fillings in the teeth replaced and performing EDTA chelation are both important methods of detoxifying mercury and other heavy metals from the body. Promolife carries two brands of EDTA chelation suppositories. Detoxamin comes in various strengths to provide the level of detoxification desired. Medicardium is another chelation therapy suppository that helps the body eliminate heavy metals.

One of the best methods of detoxification is to heat up the body and sweat with the aid of a sauna. Far infrared saunas have the ability to penetrate the body tissues up to three inches. Their ability to reach the inner body’s network of tissues and organs results in a more thorough cleaning.

The ozone sauna on the other hand will not only cause toxins to be eliminated through the skin but will also help oxidize other toxins left in the body. To help prevent Alzheimer’s disease it is advised by Dr. Saul Pressman that ozone be administered through the ears. The assumption is the ears are closer to the brain so more of the ozone will directly reach the area of trouble.

Finally the thought is that keeping your mind active by reading, writing, doing crossword puzzles or performing other brain activities will cause the synapses between neurons to stay stronger so that the protein plaques and tangles won’t be able to take control of the brain. This is probably the thought underlining the concept that a low education level can lead to Alzheimer’s disease. It probably has less to do with educational level than the individual never doing what is equivalent to brain calisthenics.

Who Would Have Thought Chaos Could Heal?

July 22nd, 2009 Posted in Health Improvement, Newsletter | No Comments »

733779bYou know a therapeutic device works when it is used on animals with success. The placebo effect may be a powerful phenomenon with people but creates no results on dogs, cats or horses. So when Susan Dowlatshahi tells of the events surrounding the vicious dog attack on her pony and the quick recovery with Infratonic treatments, the therapy used has to be taken seriously.

With a gash too deep to stitch, Infratonic treatments were started immediately and continued three times a day. After only eight days a scab covering the entire area fell off revealing new skin and hair growth.

FinishedHorse

Just like with this pony, the Infratonic 8000 is being used for all kinds of injuries, on all kinds of animals, with undeniable evidence of healing.

What is the Infratonic 8000?

The Infratonic 8000 is FDA classified as a 510(K) Therapeutic Massager. It uses low infrasound waves between the frequencies of 7.83 and 13.5 Hz because they penetrate deep within an injured area. Although the energy delivered by the Infratonic 8000 is in sound waves, one of its powers is its ability to combine acoustic frequencies to create alpha rhythms. Of the four brain waves (beta, theta, alpha and delta), alpha is the calming wave. The Infratonic 8000 reduces beta waves, which are like the caffeine of brain waves, to alpha waves.

When Chaos is a Good Thing

Along with the ability to create alpha waves the Infratonic 8000 simulates the restorative force Energy Healers pass from themselves to their patients. This is accomplished by creating a feedback loop into a noise generator which forms a signal that will not deteriorate. The feedback loop creates a random signal to which the body is unable to become accustomed. The chaotic nature of the signal is beneficial because it is able to move past the body’s defenses in order to penetrate the injured area and generate a quicker, more complete healing.

The magic in the chaotic signal is that the body is incapable of anticipating it, so it can not learn to neutralize it. Think of it in the realm of music. Most of us can remember a song so beautiful when we first heard it that it actually physically effected us. Maybe the small hairs on the back of the neck stood on edge, or the skin on the arms got goose bumps. But whatever happened the sound created a physical response. Even though the song never stops being great once it has been heard half a dozen times the body will no longer elicit the same reaction. This is because the body learns to anticipate the signal and will mute the physical response. Now if the song was always changing a bit yet remaining just as beautiful in its tone the body would generate the goosebumpy response every time it was played. This is the power behind random sound, or with the Infratonic 8000’s Chaos Therapy.

How to Effectively Use the Infratonic 8000

One of the most common methods of using the Infratonic 8000 is to put the transducer over the injured area for ten minutes or more. The Infratonic 8000 will even work through clothing and plaster casts. Many report reduced pain in as little as an hour.

Another beneficial way to use the Infratonic 8000 is to sweep the transducer from an upper point on the body toward the fingers or toes. This creates an energy flow which helps to open up stagnant areas and brings blood to a larger portion of the body.

SweepingTech

The Infratonic 8000 has been used to relieve pain, and accelerate the healing of bone fractures, surgical wounds and soft tissue injuries. Its Chaos Therapy signal is an effective way to reduce inflammation. And let’s face it, at the heart of pain and injury is inflammation so who would have thought chaos could heal?

Restless Leg Syndrome Is Not An Opiate Deficiency

July 8th, 2009 Posted in Health Improvement, Newsletter | 4 Comments »

For me Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is like driving down a highway at 70 miles per hour when without warning a deer darts in front of the car. To avoid the animal I instantaneously jam on the brakes, forcing the car to an abrupt stop. The deer continues on its path to safety and the vehicle comes to a standstill but inside the car I am violently being thrashed around by the follow-through forces caused by the sudden stop. With RLS the legs are at a standstill but inside there is a sensation of uncontrolled movement. And the easiest way to alleviate the feeling is to wildly move the legs.

Restless Leg Syndrome is a problem I have had since my teens. For me this ailment is very personal. Over the years it has resulted in several leg injuries caused by the violent movement of my legs, as well as an uncountable number of sleepless nights.

What the Medical World Has to Say

The medical community is a bit dumbfounded by RLS, partly because the people who suffer from it have difficulty explaining the sensations they are experiencing and partly because doctors consider the condition a minor annoyance with little reason to take it seriously.

RLS, or Ekbom’s Syndrome, is considered a neurological condition which effects some segments of the population more than others. Women, the elderly and obese people appear to have a higher incidence of RLS than others. There seems to be a genetic factor as well.

Right now the medical community is of the belief that RLS is caused by a dopamine imbalance in the brain. As many know, dopamine helps to control moods or create a sense of wellbeing. What many don’t know is that dopamine also plays a part in the body’s ability to move. Iron is essential in the production of dopamine so more naturalistic doctors are treating RLS with iron supplements to increase dopamine production.

Other doctors are going straight for the drug cabinet. Three of the most common kinds of drugs used are Dopaminergic Agents, widely used to treat Parkinson’s Disease because they regulate muscle action; Benzodiazepines that help suppress muscle action; and Opiates because of their ability to relax the person.

Personal Experience Would Beg to Differ

A few months ago I went on a doctor-directed weight loss program. At that time I was instructed to take several vitamins including iron. I was also given a list of liquids I could drink. My favorite, other than water, was bouillon which is basically a salt capsule mixed in hot water. Shortly after drinking two or three cups of bouillon a day I started experiencing RLS with a vengence. I mean I couldn’t get any sleep. I was jerking so forcefully at night I pulled both my groin muscle and threw out my knee to such an extent I couldn’t walk for a few days. One day in frustration I declared to a friend I was going to research and conquer RLS, and for me I have.

It’s the Salt

I’m a salt junky. Forget the sugar, pass me something salty and my palate jumps for joy. My dad, who also had RLS, was the same. Before we ever took a bite we would ask for the salt to be passed.

Salt and sodium compounds are liberally added to the majority of food products we eat. It is even given to cattle in the form of salt licks. If you eat out or eat mostly processed foods there is no escaping sodium. Salt originally had a dual use in that it was used to preserve foods before refrigeration and was also used to mask the flavor of food beginning to spoil. Today it is used in almost every recipe, even in sweets where baking soda and baking powder both contain the sodium molecule.

The body does need some sodium. Along with calcium, magnesium and potassium it plays an important role in muscle contractions and relaxation. However, both vegetables and meat provide enough salt to perform these tasks. Plus the sodium we get through natural sources is more readily used by our body than the mineral rock form.

The federal guideline for the daily intake of sodium is 2400 mg. This amount is too high for there is no way we can consume that much sodium without eating rock salt. The use of salt has only been around for about six thousand years. Our genetic ancestors were around for thousands of years before that. What did they do without table salt? How did they stay healthy without it? The answer is they didn’t need it.

So why does the government think we should eat 2400 mgs daily? Will processed food manufacturer lobbyists please step forward? Think about it. How many cans of Bean and Bacon soup do you think would be sold if the label stated that the can’s content contained 400% of the body’s real daily requirement of sodium? In general most people only require about 600 mgs of sodium daily. To get a better percentage of how much sodium a product contains in relationship to what the body actually needs, take the label’s percentage and multiply it by four.

How Does Salt Toxicity Affect the Body?

Sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium are required at the cellular level for muscle movement to occur. In order to generate the energy needed for movement the Sodium-Potassium Pump moves sodium ions out of the cell, then moves potassium ions into the cell. When the Sodium-Potassium Pump gets overloaded in its effort to expel sodium from the cell it causes the whole system to become sluggish. This causes the Sodium-Calcium Pump to malfunction in its ability to manage calcium. When calcium levels within the cell rise, muscle contractions can be triggered. This contraction of a cell is called an action potential. To learn more about how the cell uses sodium to perform cellular movement watch the following McGraw Hill animations.

The simple truth is the body just can’t eliminate the quantity of salt consumed by the average American. This results in several problems with only one of them being RLS. A few of the signs of sodium toxicity are fatigue, aching muscles, chapped lips, postnasal drip, dry skin and canker sores.

With this new found knowledge I got off the bouillon, stopped grabbing the salt shaker, began taking far infrared saunas to detoxify and started eating foods with less salt. Within a week I noticed my RLS was nearly eliminated. I suffered almost no RLS until one day, when I wasn’t feeling well, I reached for a can of Bean and Bacon soup. I could see by the label that the two and half servings in the can contained almost 100% of my sodium requirement for the day (as per government guidelines), but what the heck, I didn’t plan on eating anything else that day so I ate the entire can of soup. That evening my RLS went ballistic.

I’m not a fanatic about no-salt, I’m just cautious, and the caution has paid off. I eat few salty foods and never eat anything salty for supper. Rarely do I experience RLS. But there was still one thing that just didn’t make sense to me. That being if an overload of salt is at the root of RLS why don’t we experience it all the time? Why does it rear its ugly head when sitting in a movie or when trying to sleep? There has to be a trigger element to explain why RLS doesn’t occur directly after polishing off a bag of potato chips.

RLS Isn’t Only About Sodium Toxicity

I know I just stopped you in your tracks but hear me out. I believe excess sodium is the reason for those horrible night twitches but some electrical input has to be causing the actual nerve impulses felt with RLS. There are several large nerves running through the base of spine. Anybody who has ever had their sciatic nerve pinched knows the pain runs down the back of the leg. It doesn’t hurt much at the location of the nerve compression but can make a grown person cry if the pain running down the leg continues day in and day out. Nerve stimulation is often felt at a location away from the activation point.

While sleeping the brain sends signals to the base of the spinal cord to hold back the micturition reflex, the body’s desire to urinate. This doesn’t stop the body from processing urine, it just numbs the desire for relief. As urine builds up in the bladder the pressure against the bladder’s detrusor muscle can start a chain reaction of electrical momentum from the nerves in the pelvic area down the leg to the calf resulting in muscle contractions. Although a build up of urine is usually the culprit, gas in the intestines or even the need for a bowel movement can trigger the same muscle contractions.

The good thing is that an easy cure is available, just go to the bathroom. Go even if your bladder doesn’t feel the urge. This goes for the movies, cars, airplanes and other notorious locations for RLS attacks.

To test this theory I ate extra salt for several days. When the tingle of RLS came on I went to the bathroom. Within ten minutes the desire to shake my legs had disappeared. Often I was surprised at how much I needed to urinate. A few times only a trickle was eliminated but each time it disrupted the RLS.

Supplements

In researching RLS I came across several people who had written about the help supplements gave them. The ones mentioned most often were calcium, magnesium and B6. In general it can’t hurt to take these supplements and it may help.

A Final Word

I’ve been RLS free for about six weeks. In this article the only Promolife product I mentioned was the far infrared sauna. That isn’t because other products we sell weren’t mentioned during my research, but because I had tried them and they didn’t work for me. We take a lot of pride in these newsletters and want to be as truthful as possible. Getting you to buy as many products as we can link to a subject is not our method of doing business. For this reason if you do suffer from RLS I hope you will try the various techniques mentioned.

Inflammation: Even The Word Makes You Think, “Ouch!”

June 25th, 2009 Posted in Health Improvement, Immune System, Newsletter | 1 Comment »

Inflammation is truly a fire within the body, generated by the immune system to fight a foreign substance or protect an injured area. We have all experienced it: the redness, swelling and pain. What many people aren’t aware of is that there are two different kinds of inflammation within the body – acute and chronic.

The Two Kinds of Inflammation

Acute inflammation is often caused by an injury. Chronic inflammation is generally more serious for it is difficult to stop and will result in the deterioration of body tissues over time. It may destroy a knee, as with rheumatoid arthritis, or even lead to cancer. Often with chronic inflammation the pain isn’t immediate, but only shows itself when the affected area has suffered some tissue destruction. With chronic inflammation the pain can even be located in a part of the body not associated with damaged tissues. When the heart is inflamed the person is more likely to experience a swelling in the legs than a pain in the heart.

The Science of Inflammation

When a person suffers an injury the immune system’s cytokines are usually the first ones on the scene. They send out the alarm of the damage. To aid in the repair, blood vessels in the area expand so more oxygen and white blood cells can be carried to the location. The rush of blood saturates the area causing fluids to leak into damaged cells. The result of this flooding of cells is swelling, redness and pain.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a cytokine protein generated by the liver. These proteins flow in the blood and are used to measure the progress of inflammation within the body. As a person ages their CRP levels rise. This is often associated with chronic inflammation and can lead to diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, allergies, anemia, cancer and others.

The Food Effect

It has been established that our diet is a major factor in both the amount of chronic inflammation that develops in our body as well as playing a part in lessening both kinds of inflammation. There are certain foods which generate inflammation. The most notorious are sugars and starches but coffee, wheat and peanuts also create inflammation. Toxins in our food like hormones and pesticides can result in further chronic inflammation.

The good news is that a lot of foods we eat, or should be eating, have anti-inflammatory properties. Among the best are olive oil, dark green vegetables, cherries, blueberries, ginger, garlic, green tea and the omega-3 family of fats contained in fish.

In the January, 2009 issue of Life Extension an article written by Julius G. Goepp, MD reported that the theaflavins in black tea have some amazing anti-inflammatory properties. In essence theaflavins target the gene that produces cytokines and halts its ability to make CRP. Not only do theaflavins halt cytokines production, but they also have the ability to block cancerous cells from reproducing by halting new blood vessel growth, which is essential to the growth of tumors.

The Drug Effect

There are a lot of anti-inflammatory drugs on the market. The over-the-counter drugs are Advil, Aleve and Aspirin. Celebrex is a well known prescription drug used mostly for arthritis. The problem with these drugs is they often cause inflammation in the intestinal lining. Since at least 40% of the immune system is located in the intestines these drugs can compound the irritation from chronic inflammation.

How to Treat an Injury

Most people know that with an injury you first apply ice to bring down the swelling, then heat to bring extra blood into the area. Putting an elastic band around the area can lessen the swelling, and elevating the leg or arm will help the drainage of excessive fluids.

Promolife carries a number of items which will further reduce inflammation. The Blue LED light pad soothes the inflammation from an injury much like ice does. By adding a red LED light the damaged area will receive the dual effects of hot and cold.

The BBS Lymphix Blood and Lymph Therapy Massager not only kick-starts the lymphatic system, so the impurities from an injury can be readily disposed, but will also stimulate collagen production. This connective tissue is required for cellular repair. The more rapidly the harmed tissues can be restored, the quicker the inflammation will end.

Spot magnets can help to reduce swelling when placed over the injured area.

The Magnopro uses a low frequency electromagnetic field to boost the oxygen levels within the blood resulting in reduced pain and inflammation. The Photon Sound Beam acts in a similar way except sound energy is used to promote the oxygenation of the injured area.

The Therasage RX 8000S massage bed uses far infrared to activate blood cells. With a penetration depth of up to three inches, all forms of far infrared will promote healing by reducing both pain and inflammation.

Long Tested Anti-Inflammatory Solutions

For years people have used effective folk remedies to control inflammation. An Epsom salt bath will help ease muscle inflammation, plus the magnesium in Epsom salt will help alleviate the modern body’s magnesium deficiency.

In this folk remedy you will need to blend six parts ginger and one part garlic. Bring two cups of olive oil to near boiling temperatures. Let the oil cool then strain the plant parts from the oil. Mix the cooled oil with an ounce each of arnica and calendula essential oils. Put in a dark glass jar and store in a cool place. Use this oil to massage into an injured area. Use as often as needed.

The hot mixture of ginger and garlic can be used as a poultice. Apply as hot as tolerable to the effected area and wrap in cloth for several hours. This poultice helps pull toxins from the damaged cells.

You don’t have to live with inflammation. No matter what type you have, taking care of the effects will help you live a pain-free life.

Health Benefits of Exercising

June 12th, 2009 Posted in Exercise, Health Improvement, Newsletter | No Comments »

Part 2 of 2 | Read Part One of the Series

Every time you turn on the TV some company is advertising a new product that will improve your health. There is such a bombardment of health products on the market claiming to be the next best thing that knowing who to believe can be overwhelming.

It seems like the new fad with exercising is speed, how fast can a workout be completed. “Only 30 minutes, three days a week and your body will look amazing,” is all too commonly heard from companies claiming their product works the best.

With every advertisement comes a statement posted on the bottom: “Results Not Typical.” What is typical, and what has to be done to see improvement? These are questions every customer has, but the information is never there.

When beginning an exercise routine to improve health, lose weight or just because, it is important to know how your body operates and what it takes to burn fat. Typically when working out it takes your body 30 minutes at an elevated heart rate to begin burning fat. Prior to the 30 minutes your body typically burns off sugar. This is why results may be hard to see without extended workouts.

Consuming more than three meals a day can actually cause your body to increase the metabolic rate. Consuming less than three meals a day will actually cause your body to slow the metabolic rate. This is because your body believes you may be starving yourself and in order to compensate, it must store the food intake as fat. The type of food consumed does matter. Foods high in white flour and sugar provide no nourishment to your body and act as filler food. Eating whole unprocessed foods will help your body maintain energy longer, increase your metabolism, and ultimately provide better benefits when exercising.

How exercising can help your body

One question everyone wants to answer is how to prevent disease. There are a range of diseases that can be prevented simply by exercising. Fifty million Americans suffer from high blood pressure; with exercise and diet this statistic can be dramatically reduced. Physical activity will reduce body fat which in turn will help lower high blood pressure.

Sixty million Americans suffer from obesity. This staggering statistic can be attributed to the American way of life, fast food, processed food, and sugar. Reducing the amount of junk food in combination with proper exercise will help the fight against obesity. Obesity is often linked to a number of diseases including heart disease and diabetes. Close to twenty-two million Americans suffer from one of these debilitating diseases.

It can be difficult to find the time to exercise or eat healthy. Our lives are very busy and fast-paced. It can be very convenient to purchase premade dinners or order fast food, and at times we have no choice.

Stress can also be attributed to becoming overweight and if one has time, exercise is one of the best ways to relieve stress. Exercise releases endorphins which can help reduce depression and anxiety and help you better manage stress.

Another health problem exercise can help with is back pain. By increasing muscle strength and endurance and improving flexibility and posture, regular exercise helps to prevent back pain. Exercise can also help with osteoporosis by promoting bone formation using weight-bearing exercises.

So many problems can be avoided by starting an exercise routine. It helps to start young and continue throughout your life, however starting at any time will help. Consistency is key and with a routine this can be achieved. It can be hard to get yourself in the groove, but if you continue to push yourself you will want to exercise every day.

What exercises are right for you?

Depending on your age some exercises may not be right for you. For the younger, more energetic person running may be a great fit. Running is a great way to increase your heart rate for extended periods of time. It can be a relaxing and rewarding experience. When beginning a routine it may be very difficult to push yourself, but as time progresses you will find running is an experience to look forward to. Problems can arise during running mainly because it is a heavy impact exercise. Proper technique is important and stretching is a must.

Biking is a great way to incorporate all the benefits of running without the heavy impact. It can also be a fun activity to do with friends or family and is a great alternative mode of transportation. Biking can be done by all age groups. More and more cities around the country are building bike friendly paved trails which are great for beginning bikers.

For an older individual running or biking may not be right for you and there are definitely options. A great product is the Resistance Chair. This product allows a variety of low impact exercises built directly into the chair. There are anchor cables which allow light to moderate lifting. For people wanting to bike this product can be used with the Smooth Rider Mini Bike which is placed at the base of the Resistance Chair.

Another great product for exercise is the VibraSlim. This product focuses on whole body vibration and helps increase HGH (Human Growth Hormone) by 460%. This machine is currently being used by professional sport teams and many celebrities. It’s great because anyone young or old can use it. Benefits include increases in hormone levels, burning of fat and cellulite, eases of joint pain and building of muscle strength.

Swimming is another low impact workout for any age group. Normal size swimming pools are almost impossible to swim in for exercise unless you have an endless swimmer. A great, more economical product that accomplishes the same results as an endless swimmer is the HomeSwimmer. This device attaches a pole to the pool wall and allows a comfortable way to swim endlessly in any pool.

Exercising doesn’t have to consist of work all the time. Taking a Far Infrared Sauna provides many of the same benefits without the hassle. Far Infrared Saunas work on a very similar principle to working out. When the temperature of the body is increased the natural reaction is to cool its self down. The body regulates temperature primarily through sweating, followed by an increased heart rate. Exercise on the other hand causes an increased heart rate followed by sweating. Either way you look at it the same benefits are reached.

Detoxification is another powerful tool linked to Far Infrared saunas. When your body detoxifies this helps promote overall heath and reduces stress. For the person who loves sitting in a relaxed environment while achieving health, a Far Infrared sauna may be the perfect thing for you.

Conclusion

Exercise and diet are great ways to improve your quality of life. Walking your dog or doing yard work are great ways to turn a chore into exercise. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you stay consistent with the activity. Diet is very important when exercising because what we eat does make us feel different. When people feel better they are more likely to exercise. For anyone considering an exercise routine, good luck and stay consistent.
