How To Build A Far Infrared Sauna

buildyourownsauna.jpg

Building a far infrared sauna may seem to be a daunting task, for even the jargon of such a project is new to most people. Emitters, housing trays, terminal blocks, it all may seem a bit scary, but in reality the learning curve is not all that great. The main advantage of building a sauna is the amount of money you can save, as much as 50% over a pre-built model. To build a sauna you will need basic carpentry tools and skills, or you can hire a handyman.

Meet the Crew at Promolife

1deer.jpg On a fall afternoon, around 4 pm, it’s a common event to watch deer munching on the field out the back windows of the Promolife offices. In a world of their own they blend nicely with Promolife’s philosophy of promoting a healthier lifestyle. And of course, no matter how many times we see the deer we still ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ over their majestic ways. As the deer promote a calming effect on us, so it is our goal to provide the service our customers will benefit from the most.
1gerry.jpg In The Beginning

Promolife’s thought master is Gerry Segal. Always being interested in alternative health Gerry began creating the Promolife website in 1999. Disaster almost befell the creation before it ever made it to the internet when he accidentally deleted some of the website. But, in no time he had recreated it. Gerry describes himself as the jack-of-all-trades. However, in reality he spends most of his time talking to customers, finding new products and designing new web pages. When he isn’t working Gerry stays active by biking, hiking and swimming. He thinks the Oxygen Swing Machine is a great gift as it helps in so many different areas of rebuilding the body.

The Immune System: The War Over Disease

disease.jpgPart 1 of 2 | Read Part 2 of Series

If the body’s immune system were to be compared to a known society it would have to be the Spartans of ancient Greece. The immune system is a warrior-like federation with all the sophistication of a modern military. Within its ranks is an intelligence seeking force, B cells; standing army, Killer T cells; database of past actions, Memory B and T cells; weapons experts, Granulocytes; and even a force that does a little of everything, Macrophages.

First Line Of Defense

The immune system has forces within and without the body working in unison to keep the body disease free. The first line of defense is the hair, skin, tears and mucus of the mouth, nose and lungs. These, in and of themselves, possess powerful weapons. Both the skin and mucus carry chemicals which fight bacteria. The mucus has an added feature which traps invaders and through tentacle-like cilia moves them back up toward the body entrance, so they can be expelled.

Strengthen The Lymphatic System

Can exercising for only two minutes actually benefit the body in any major way? If you are stumped, try this question. Can stress ever have a positive physical effect on the body? Still don’t know? Well, the answers to both questions is ‘yes’. The details for why this is so lies with the mechanics of the lymphatic system.

How Does The Lymphatic System Work?

The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system. Lymph fluid is formed when pressure within a capillary vessel pushes it into the surrounding tissue space. The lymphatic vessels then take the lymph fluid into its system of vessels. From there the lymph fluid, which is full of toxins, flows against gravity up the body to various lymph nodes. Each lymph node is designed with more ‘in’ than ‘out’ doors. The magic in this design is that the lymph fluid has no choice but to linger in the node where it can be more thoroughly scrubbed clean. Eventually, the cleaned fluid returns to the blood vessels through veins in the neck.

MSG and Aspartame Scorch Brain Cells

scorched.jpgRed alert! Red alert! Excitotoxins have penetrated the barrier! Forced work destroying many! Little time left! Death imminent!”

If only excitotoxins were a movie we could enjoy the action of the plot, and once the credits rolled never worry about it again. But unfortunately, excitotoxins are real life assassins.

Though there are 70 known excitotoxins, the majority of attention has been given to Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and Aspartame. Our society, metaphorically speaking, is swimming in these substances. Aspartame is a non-caloric sweetener used mostly, but not exclusively, in diet products. Whereas, MSG is as abundant in our food supply as water is in our faucets.

What is MSG and Aspartame?

Electrical Stimulation Activates Endorphins

electric.jpg
Electrical stimulation is nearly as old as written history. Some 4500 years ago various cultures in the Middle East and southern Europe used electric eels to treat pain. One can only imagine the tweaking the therapy underwent as an adult electric eel packs enough of a wallop to kill a horse. Fortunately, electrical stimulation has come a long way since the electric eel.

TENS ~ EMS

There are many different methods of electrical stimulation used which benefit the body. For purposes of this article, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) will be analyzed.

TENS Eases Pain Without Any Side Effects

The TENS is the most popular electrical stimulation unit sold. Primarily used to relieve pain, the TENS manipulates the nervous system to both ignore the pain and release the bodies natural pain killer, endorphins.

The Evolution of the Longevity Revolution

longevity.jpg
Despite the fact humans are born with a genetic time bomb within them, more people are living longer than ever before. In fact, the American centenarian population doubles about every 10 years.

There was a period, not so long ago, where people just hoped they would live long enough to see their children have children. Today the average person can look forward to meeting their great-grand children.

A new field of study has arisen out of the need to understand, and expand upon this increase of the average person’s life expectancy. But, right now maintaining the gains made have become a major issue as well. Two concerns threaten the population with a reversal of the life expectancy, chemical toxicity and obesity. Both hang over the American population like April 15th over the taxpayer.

Far Infrared: Elixir of Light

infraredwave.jpgPart 1 of 3 | Read Part 2 of Series | Read Part 3 of Series

Far infrared is essential to life. It is naturally emitted by the sun, naturally absorbed into the body and naturally emitted from the body. But what exactly is it, and how does it work when it comes to health?

We can’t see far infrared but we can feel it. It is past the visible spectrum of light from the sun but plays a big part in the warmth we feel. The air temperature in direct sunlight and in the shade is the same, but you feel cooler in the shade. When you step back out into direct light, the far infrared waves from the sun warm your skin without adding additional warmth to the air.

Far Infrared: Products of Wonder

At the University of Fukui in Japan there is a six story building devoted to the development of far infrared technologies. NASA was researching the health effects of far infrared long before this university decided to concentrate on the subject. But, today most of the major progress in far infrared is coming out of the orient.

New far infrared products are constantly being patented.
Everything from a toilet bowl that has two far infrared lamps, used to treat hemorrhoids, to a medical thermometer which instantaneously reports a person’s temperature after a light beam is shot into the individual’s ear.

Promolife Sells Dozens Of Far Infrared Products

Not counting saunas Promolife sells over 50 products which has a far infrared technology at the core of its mechanics. Below is a complete list of these products and the ways each affects, or benefits the body.

Far Infrared: The Ultimate Sauna

infraredsauna.jpgPart 3 of 3 | Read Part 1 of Series | Read Part 2 of Series

Nature provides its own method of a far infrared sauna. To take one, head to the nearest beach, dig a hole, and cover yourself to the neck with the warm crushed stones. Sand, like any heated stone, emits far infrared. Some stones, like tourmaline, emit far infrared without having to be heated. The high tech version of the sand sauna can be found in the bio-ceramic emitters made for use in far infrared saunas.

Health Benefits Other Saunas Don’t Have

Unlike other saunas, the far infrared saunas’ heat penetrates at least 1 1/2 inches below the skin’s surface. This creates a deeper cleansing of the tissues. Far infrared heats the body directly. It does not use the air surrounding the person as a go between. The direct contact far infrared creates with the individual will result in a more intense sweat, while actually generating a lower temperature. This in turn allows more toxins to be eliminated than with other higher heated saunas.
